【概要】
今回のSpecial Seminar: Frontiers of Gender Studies in Asia は京都大学東南アジア地域研究研究所の男女共同参画推進委員会との共催により、インドネシア科学研究所政治学研究センターのDr. Kurniawati H. Dewi氏をスピーカーとして招聘し、実施された。本ユニットのネットワークにより、コメンテータの一人である後藤恵美氏を招聘した。
　Dewi氏はインドネシアにおける男女平等や女性の社会進出を強く推進する立場に立ち、2つのイスラーム組織におけるムスリム女性指導者や地方政治で活躍するムスリム女性政治家の活動を分析し、ムスリム女性としての敬虔さを中核に据えた彼女らの新しい語りが公的空間における女性の役割を上昇させたことを指摘した。東南アジア文化人類学およびイスラーム・ジェンダー学の立場からのコメントに続き、活発な議論が行われた。
